Here is your Welcome Pack with all the information concerning your intensive english language training : Immersion anglais “Public Speaking”.

GREAT NEWS!

You are coming to Châteaux des langues for an immersion.

This is your chance to really improve your English and to take everything that you have learned in the past and put it all together into a solid base.

The course is intense, professional and structured but the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed.

Our motivated and energetic team are here to inform, guide and encourage you to make sure that you get the maximum benefit from your stay with us. The diversity of our teaching team means that we can cater to any linguistic need you may have.

To maintain your concentration during these intense days, there are different teachers, activities and rooms every hour.

You will be staying in the château with all meals provided. We aim to cater to your every need in order to create the ideal learning environment to concentrate on the language.

 

THE OBJECTIVES

To provide you with a communication tool by developing, understanding and practising the most effective learning methods.

To accelerate oral and audio skills in order to be more efficient in professional situations.

To develop mechanisms which will help you to react more quickly and spontaneously.

SCHEDULE

Day 1

We begin at 10am on Tuesday

10h00 – 10h30 : Welcome & introduction

10h30 – 11h20 : Copycat

11h20- 11h30 : Break

11h30 – 12h30 : Business idioms & expressions to use in meetings – Prepare lunch – meeting

12h30 – 13h30 : Lunch – professional meeting

14h00 – 15h45 : Presentation :
Watch an example of a good presentation – discuss and provide tips on what makes an effective presentation. Practice with cameras 5-minute max presentation + practice correcting.

16h00 – 17h30 : Start working on a presentation they will have to deliver on the last morning. In pairs.

17h45 – 19h00 : Negotiating role-plays : participants have to use their persuasion and listening skills.

20h00 – 21h00 : Dinner

21h – 21h45 : TED talk + discussion

Day 2

 

8h30 – 9h00 : Exercises using business idioms

9h00 – 9h30 : Breakfast

9h30 – 10h00 : Walk

10h00 – 11h00 : Copycat

11h00 – 12h15 : Structures

12h30 – 13h30 : Lunch meeting

14h00 – 15h45 : Presenting graphs – watch video – and then prepare a 5-minute presentation to be filmed and corrected

16h00 – 17h30 : Work on presentation to be delivered the next morning

17h45 – 19h00 : Amnesty as a group activity: again, here practice negotiating

20h00 – 21h00 : Dinner

21h00 – 21h45 : Ted + discussion

Day 3

We finish at 11am on Thursday

8h30 – 9h00 : Exercises on structures from the day before

9h00 – 9h30 : Breakfast

9h30 – 11h00 : Final presentations + feedback

HOW TO GET HERE

BY CAR

Leave the A10 at exit 3 « Laval centre » and follow the direction « Laval ». On arriving at Laval turn left at the roundabout (Giant Ring Sculpture) – direction Tours. Follow the ring road until the exit for Tours, Meslay du Maine and La Flèche – turn left here. After leaving the first village (Forcé), turn right – direction Entrammes.  After one kilometre you will see a sign for «Château de la Mazure» on the right. Follow the road which turns into the woods until you see a sign on the left for the chateau.

Please aim to arrive between 9:30 and 10am on Tuesday morning.

 

Please inform us how you intend to travel as soon as possible.

BY TRAIN

There are regular trains from Paris Montparnasse to Laval.

To be sure to enjoy the whole programme please note that you should arrive by the following trains:

On Tuesday : 08h38 at Paris Montparnasse (to arrive at 09h56 in Laval)

On Thursday : 12h03 at Laval train station (to arrive at 13h19 at Paris Montparnasse)

If you are arriving, or leaving, by these trains, a free taxi will be ready for you. You will easily recognise them as they will be holding a Châteaux des langues sign.

If you are not coming from Paris, or would like to take a different train, please discuss this with us before booking your tickets.

For those who wish to arrive on Monday, when our Centre is not open, we recommend the Hôtel Ibis Style :

If you wish to use the taxi service but you are not taking the train, the meeting point is at 9:55 am at the Gare de Laval.

Please let us know by email beforehand so that we can book the taxi.

Breakfast (coffee & croissants), lunch and dinner are all provided.

TO ENJOY YOUR STAY

We have included some outdoor walks in this course, so we provide boots.

We also provide towels in the bedrooms.

Please also bring some pens and writing paper and an ID CARD or PASSPORT. All other teaching materials will be provided by us.

Remember that at certain times of the year the weather can get cold, so please bring a nice warm jumper with you.
